Salary: £95,231 – £111,359
Location: Hybrid working (currently three days a week in the Cardiff office)

We are seeking a visionary and experienced Chief Executive to lead our strategic direction and operations. As the independent, professional regulator for the education workforce in Wales, we play a vital role in maintaining professionalism and enhancing standards across schools, further education, youth work, and adult/work-based learning.
This is a unique opportunity to lead an organisation with a statutory remit, working in the public interest to safeguard learners and uphold professional standards. The Chief Executive will oversee EWC’s regulatory functions, financial operations, and strategic engagement with key stakeholders, including Welsh Government, ensuring the organisation continues to influence policy and support workforce development across Wales.
We are looking for candidates with:
- significant senior leadership experience in the regulatory, education, or wider public sector
- a strong understanding of EWC’s remit and responsibilities
- proven experience in financial management and governance
- the ability to build trusted relationships at Ministerial level and across the education and regulatory landscape.
Welsh language skills are desirable for this post.
